Activision is an American video game publisher based in Santa Monica, California. It was founded in 1979 and is one of the largest and most successful video game companies in the world. Activision is known for publishing a wide range of popular video game franchises, including Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and Skylanders. The company also owns or has owned major studios such as Treyarch, Infinity Ward, and Vicarious Visions, which have developed many of its games. In addition to its publishing activities, Activision also operates its own online gaming service, Battle.net, and has a division called Activision Blizzard Studios that produces film and television adaptations of its properties.
