A game, a movie, an album, it doesn’t matter. They can all be bad, so bad in fact that somehow that makes them great. Call me a masochist, but I remember buying a game many years ago because of how badly [Game Informer](https://www.gameinformer.com/) reviewed it. “It sucks in a vomitous, spirit-crushing kind of way,” I believe is what they said. They had me at “vomitous,” I was immediately sold.

There are podcasts like [How Did This Get Played?](https://www.earwolf.com/show/how-did-this-get-played/) that cover bad and weird games. [The Immortal John Hancock](https://www.youtube.com/user/swlovinist) has an ongoing series on his YouTube channel about bad games. And then there is little old me. I’ve decided I want to play some of Metacritic’s worst-reviewed games. In particular, I am going to start with their [10 Worst Video Games of 2020](https://www.metacritic.com/pictures/worst-videogames-of-2020) list and write a bit about each one as I play.

I hope you will follow along on this fool’s journey, and I hope I don’t regret it. I’ve already purchased a few of the games, so there is no backing out now. Check back soon for an article about the tenth game in their list, *[The Elder Scrolls: Blades](/article/the-elder-scrolls-blades-metacritics-tenth-worst-video-game-of-2020/)* for [Nintendo Switch](https://amzn.to/3AAWnWO).
